Our Approach To This Work

At Topaz, we center the guidance of our bodies, the wisdom of nature and safety within our relationships as the most valuable components in healing.

At Topaz Healing, we embrace our vulnerability and lean on the power of human connection to make the shifts we are seeking for our lives.

We are dedicated to providing a space that is Anti-Racist, LGBTQQIAAP+ affirming, Body Liberating, Sex Positive, and Disability Justice Oriented. We lean on collaboration to build a solid relationship in which we can begin to explore the challenges of our internal and external experiences.

Our Experiences and Challenges

Often mirror a cluster of mental health ‘diagnoses’ that are natural adaptations most humans would make under particular relational and environmental experiences.

At Topaz, we value the validation that emerges from naming an experience, but we do not rely on diagnostic information to best understand the lingering effects of trauma + systemic wounds.

We believe that humans adapt to their environments in the wisest ways, which often have unwanted lingering effects.

These survival strategies do a great job when they are first learned, but when continued outside of the context of their creation - they can reenact + reinforce  patterns that are no longer sustainable.

It’s in this understanding that we will work together to identify where these patterns started, what behaviors were learned for emotional or physical survival, and how we can create new ways of interacting in the world that feel more whole.

The Story of Topaz

It is possible to find great comfort, ease, and co-regulation by looking to nature’s offerings for support. One resource that has been particularly meaningful in moving through trauma originates from our earth’s core, the most intimate part of our collective home.

In this journey, we may learn to use nature’s anchors for support. Stones may encourage us to be in the present moment + get grounded in our bodies.

A few years ago, I made a connection with the semi-precious stone topaz due to its sweet symbolism and timely introduction in my life.

Topaz - grounded and humble, sensitive and strong.

“The spontaneous movement in all of us is towards connect, health and aliveness… just as a plant spontaneously moves towards sunlight, there is in each of us an impulse toward connection and healing.”

- Heller & LaPierre
